Wednesday Randoms on a rainy day in October <3

www.laurareimer.net

It’s raining and I helped in the kitchen at church this morning, so I can’t think of a better motivation to throw out some randoms.

Here they are as they pop in my mind:

Random #1

This little dude has decided to go ahead and get older and he turns eight tomorrow.

Eight.

This is ridiculous and some one needs to slow things down a bit.

Rachel calls me his attorney and I call him my Achilles Heel.

All I can figure is, his next oldest brother wasn’t very big when he was born and when Caroline zipped in right behind him almost making them seem like twins, I got to hold him a lot more than the others.

What a pumpkin.

Yesterday I was sitting next to Caroline while she did her homework and she hooked her arm through mine. She declared that I was so warm, she was going to keep my arm and never, ever, never let go, forever.

I told her I was all in.

We discussed various ways I would need to know how to behave at school, chapel and dance.

Unfortunately, forever came quicker than I had anticipated and our bond was broken in a few short minutes.

But I am okay because she wanted to go play with a bucket of slime her brother was loaning her and I really didn’t want that on my nice warm arm.

It’s still a great thought, though…so maybe she will offer again <3

How do you feel about Pumpkin Spice showing up this time of year?

I don’t buy the lattes because they are expensive and leave a funny aftertaste. Plus the calorie count would be my allotment for two days.

I do like kind of making my own with some warmed oat milk and pumpkin pie spice and a hot cup of coffee.

Some other pumpkin spice favorites are the Trader Joe’s pumpkin spice tea made with Rooibos, pumpkin spice Cheerios, and pumpkin spice English muffins. Wish they carried the latter two year round.

Tried to switch up some of those paragraphs above because so many start with “I”…sorry.

If you don’t know about Rooibos tea, it is an herbal tea with a ton of antioxidants. A South African product, it comes from a shrub grown along the coast there. It is not related to black or green tea.

The tea has a red brown hue and, to me, has a naturally sweet taste. I will say it does take a wee bit of getting used to, but I love it. It is very good with milk in it as well. It is caffeine free so I can drink at night.

Republic of Tea makes a GingerBread tea in their Cuppa Cake line that we sell at Tournesol around this time of year. It has ginger, cinnamon and vanilla and is also delicious.

And for those who scrutinize my photos, the above pic is indeed coffee…not Rooibos tea…sigh…I didn’t have a photo in stock on the website and too close to publishing time to snap one…forgive the inaccuracy.

Speaking of Ginger Bread, I am contemplating starting to put Christmas up earlier again this year.

What is happening to me?

I found it was helpful to have it going earlier, and by that I mean the third/fourth week of November to start getting things out. We aren’t talking the day after Halloween…but I did enjoy starting December ready for it all rather than spending the first week trying to get things out of boxes.

So there you go.

Stuff you didn’t need to know but that’s the nature of randoms.

I am thinking how if we were really sitting over coffee….or Rooibos tea….right now, you would have your own thoughts to add and I would love to hear those…sigh…the internet will never beat face to face <3
