So what did you do for the long weekend?
Well…since I asked…
We took in the season opener for the Illini with this crew…
this would be the one moment out of the entire time that everyone was relatively still….because the rest of it was more like…
man on man defense…
and…
and….
We did have some quiet when the sweet little baton twirler stopped by…
Which was restful for all of us until she let this happen…
So it seemed a good time to say goodbye to the nice lady with the death sticks…
and…visit the snack bar…
where we helped the concessions attendant bag hot dogs.
We stayed hydrated…
and focused…
and finally headed home…
where rumor has it six children were bathed and in bed in record time.
Papi and I enjoyed every milli-second and then headed off on Sunday to visit this guy…
and watch the excitement as the Longhorns beat ND…
and then we came home to officially start a new season.
As we drove through Missouri, we passed miles of fields ripe for harvest…corn, soybeans and sorghum.
It was an absolutely beautiful day with puffs of white clouds, blue skies…very few billboards…just God’s amazing gift of creation.
Often there would be those extremely large birds of prey…I confess I don’t know what kind they were…but as they would give a couple of flaps of their wings, they would soar back and forth across the sky as we drove under them.
I couldn’t help but think of God and how those who trust in Him … who place their hope in Him…are promised to soar on wings like eagles.
I thought of many who are feeling weary right now and I prayed for us all…for the hearts of the saints to continue to hope IN the LORD…to receive that renewing burst of energy that will carry us up into the draft of the Spirit and that this week…we will soar…with Him.
May God bless you this day as you…wait for Him…hope in Him…renew your strength in His everlasting love and mercy, grace and power.
He IS ABLE….<3
He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind. Isaiah 40:31 MSG
