Wednesday is turning out to be the perfect day for randoms…here we go:

Random #1

Tia came to stay with us Sunday night so she could get a good start on a day up north with her sister and the troops.

We loved the photos sent our way and the stories as she spent a day in the life of them.

I am thankful for the intentionality of time given to be present.

Our children finding a way in the midst of incredibly busy and diverse lives blesses me more than I have the words to express.

We have a couple of weddings to attend this summer. One came with a hint as to what attire would be acceptable.

I am thankful for this.

We live in a world where people wear pajamas to the grocery store and cut offs to the golf course. Yet there are times where we opted for a sort of casual look and everyone else thought we were going to a gala.

It’s awkward and I appreciate the heads’ up.

But my random has to do with the expectations for ladies. Because it suggested floor, midi or tea length cocktail dresses.

And let me tell you. The term “tea length cocktail dress” just puts me into a whole level of musing.

All at once, I am envisioning high tea with the royal family AND Audrey Hepburn in a black dress with her hair swept up and huge sunglasses a la Breakfast at Tiffanys and I’m done.

Don’t even get me started on the ideas I have for how this should look and what shoes to wear.

Being a word nerd and visual person can be highly stressful.

Plus I will be busy googling Pinterest, Nordstrom’s and allllll the boutiques for the next month.

I went to pick up a prescription at the pharmacy.

When the gal rang it up she said it had gone up a little.

From there we talked about what hasn’t (her paycheck, she said with a laugh, has not). By the time I left we were both dewy eyed and I know all about her children, where they work, how many children they have, assorted grieving that has happened as they have lost some family members and received some sad diagnosis. We discussed the need for affordable healthy foods for young families and how there is too much sadness, not only here in our circle but around the globe.

I blessed her day and she blessed mine as we dabbed our eyes.

I left praying for one of her tribe who was grieving the loss of a grandparent.

Such is my life.

Speaking of shoes and dresses….random #2…I think I am finally ready to part with some dress shoes that I have not worn for at least ten years.

I love the style of them and it hurts to part with them.

They don’t fit and probably go with nothing I have or will have ever again.

Sigh…any other shoe people out there that find it hard to let go of the really good ones?

I get to go to Knitting group today.

It is exactly as it sounds. We sit around a table and knit and talk about knitting, among other things.

We check out what everyone else is working on and get ideas and people who are really good help out us poor souls who aren’t.

So thankful <3
