In the middle of our messes <3
Before I even get to today’s thought, we have a little order of business to take care of. If you subscribe to the email, you may have noticed you got two emails last Friday. I am in the process of having the email subscriptions migrated to the new version for this and the gal who helps me didn’t get the old version turned off.
Long story short, I don’t know when she will get this done so for a short time you may get two. My apologies. Please don’t unsubscribe…it will be straightened out soon.
Now for today’s thought, which kind of goes along with things like double emails and other parts of life that are a hassle.
Every year when I start out with my Bible read through I am reminded right off the bat that we are a mess. There is that brief account of the Creation and how God said it was good and then very good and then it all goes very bad so quickly.
Story after story is so fraught with human nature and yet God is so faithful in each situation.
And while it is somewhat discouraging to read the details of so many poor choices, what an encouragement as I stumble through my own battles with my mind and heart. The focus of the entire Bible is not so much on who we are, but who God is.
The study Bible I am using this year asks a few questions after each days reading and often leads me to go back through the text and discover what I learned about God. Without fail I am able to see each morning how He is faithful, patient, grace filled in spite of people having to live with the consequences of bad choices.
I see His continued effort to bend down to us and to draw near to us in our mess. I am so thankful <3
