Happy Friday <3

Even as I think about what to write and how to participate personally in this season of Lent, I had a thought this morning of why we do it. Or at least why I do it.

Lately I have had a sore spot on my foot. I feel it in certain shoes and certain ways that I stand or walk. It’s around one of my toes and it can be quite annoying.

As silly as it sounds, I have been too busy to actually pinpoint the source. I hurriedly tried to find it last night and found a dry, cracked area on the back of one little toe…what an absurd story I am recounting to you, but stay with me.

While it is possible that is the culprit, I feel there is something else causing the irritation. There is a low level of discomfort that accompanies my movements and my standing still and very soon I am going to need to get serious and figure out what is going on.

And that is what Lent is spiritually for me.

In my busy-ness and my hurrying though the days and weeks of life on planet Earth, there are some places of neglect in my soul and my heart and my mind that cause just enough discomfort that I notice them, but not enough to stop and really examine.

Lent gives me the space to meditate on who God is and who I am and what He is trying to get me to understand about that relationship.

I have found a portion of Scripture to muse on for this season and I will be sharing with you bits and pieces as well as other parts of life on the Journey…but I promise it will be much more interning than my poor little toe.

Blessings and have a wonderful weekend <3
