Dining in Sedona <3
Today I want to focus on our time in Sedona. When we were making plans, we decided to attempt a stay at a “resort” type accommodation. In his search, Russ found one where units were owned by individuals and it was recommended to rent directly from the owner.
The place we landed on was called Los Abrigados. Our unit had a small kitchen, nice eating area, living room with couch and chair and a bedroom with adjacent bath. There was a patio with chairs we could sit on if we wanted to that had a secluded view.
It was perfect for what we needed. Clean and quiet, we enjoyed having a fridge for our breakfast and snack options. It is located in the center of Tlaquepaque shopping plaza which offers a variety of restaurants, shops and beautiful landscaping. This area is about a 20 minute drive to the main drag of Sedona during the high points of traffic.

Sedona reminded us of both Estes Park and Gatlinburg in that it is rather compact with only a few main roads to get everywhere you need to go. During lunch and dinner time, the traffic was thick on these narrow passes but everyone was courteous to let you in and out as needed.
Some of our best finds were as follows:
The Secret Garden – just a short walk across the parking lot from our room, this one didn’t boast my favorite meal but I loved the atmosphere. I ordered the quiche and it was so-so. However the charming patio and bordering fairy garden were a delight.

We went to a happy hour at a popular spot called The Hudson. While the prices were astonishing, so were the proportions! Russ had wings that were just fabulous with a pretty cool crudités effort.

I had two different kinds of bruschetta that were wonderful. The views from this restaurant were lovely as well. Would recommend sitting on patio deck if weather is agreeable.

When we travel, we usually do light breakfast in the room and have one big meal out. Either our lunch or dinner are the main thing. Then we enjoy cheese and crackers, popcorn and some fruit for the other meal.
The other restaurants we tried were:
Pisa Lisa Sedona – had lunch here and the pizza was so good. They also offered a variety of beautiful desserts but we were too full!
Rascals – we ate dinner here. I had a meat loaf that was so amazingly good. While it is attached to a hotel, they do have a chef who is well known in the area. Sorry all my photos seem to be sideways…oh well.
No photos for the rest but we also enjoyed:
Open Range Grill and Tavern – we ate here one evening as it was getting hard to find a place that was open. Sedona shuts down early this time of year. We had a good meal on the outdoor patio. Space heaters kept us toasty.
Whole Foods – we nabbed some good cheese, hummus, crackers, popcorn and apples here for in room snacks and smaller meals.
The shopping in Sedona is a bit odd. Lots of New Age stones and such. While we enjoyed walking along, we really didn’t go in a lot of places. The area is scenic, of course. I will share a bit about what we did for hiking tomorrow <3
