Countdown to Christmas 2024…Day 8
Today is the second Sunday of Advent.
Late to the Advent game, as I stated in last week’s Sunday devotion for the Countdown, I just pulled out a book I was gifted last year. I read the first few pages around 2 A.M. when I was awake and unable to go back to sleep.
It is a beautifully written, with both words and watercolor illustrations. Ruth Chou Simons has done it again and is touching my heart with her book Emmanuel; An Invitation to Prepare Him Room at Christmas and Always.
This morning, I decided to just pick up on the actual calendar date and have added it to my morning devotions, along with the small devotional our church put together for Advent. I shared Russ’s entry on December 6th. here —> https://www.laurareimer.net/countdown-to-christmas-2024-day-6/
I will share both of these resources along with the sermon I told you about from last Sunday at the end of the post.
For today, I am just passing along my own reflection for the journaling page that was provided in the He Shall be Called booklet from church.
Today the prompt was to answer the question, “How have you seen Jesus’ might and power in your life?“
Here is what I wrote this morning:
He overcomes my flesh and gives me a new heart.
He helps me love when I feel I cannot.
He calls me to do things I can’t do, and then He equips me to do them.
He gives me strength when I have none; but He also is my strength when I think I am doing well.
He provides everything I need, and many things I didn’t even know I needed.
He is God with me and I am so grateful.
Have a blessed Sunday <3
