Countdown to Christmas 2024…Day 18
Christmas Randoms
Random #1
To give you an idea of how many irons I have in the fire currently, I realized at 7:10 P.M. last night as we got up from our seats following the Elementary Christmas Program, that I never put mascara on yesterday.
Oh, I know, there are some who never wear it.
But even on my worst day, not going anywhere outside the house, just recovering from the flu…I apply it as surely as I brush my teeth and fix my hair.
I was in disbelief at myself.
Random #2
Whenever I hear “O Holy Night”, I remember two boys in fourth grade who stood up and sang a duet of this for Show and Tell.
It made an impression on me in a good way.
Not only were they brave, they actually sounded very good.
And they weren’t necessarily guys you would think of had memorized the entire song, but also would have the courage to stand up and sing it for our class without being asked.
We were like that in fourth grade.
Always looking for something to share during Show and Tell.
A friend and I found black walnuts on the playground on time and decided to do an impromptu lesson on peeling away the green spongey outer covering them to reveal the nut inside.
This was a valuable lesson for us. As many of you might know, this process produces a stain that lasts through quite a few washings.
Wonder if you learned the same way I did.
Random #3
I have a bad habit of changing pursues, but only partially.
It is not uncommon for me to have three or purses going at the same time.
This proves frustrating during the holidays when various charge cards, membership cards and spare change is spread thin between too many locations.
Random #4
I hope you have someone to send reminder texts when you are driving or unable to nab some scrap paper.
For me it is Rachel.
I am her person as well.
If you are unfamiliar with this technique, just find someone you can send a message to that begins with “Saving for me” and then go ahead and share your odd notes.
If your person is as good as mine is to me and I am to her, you don’t have to respond, or figure out the cryptic message.
You just smile and nod your head and carry on.
Random #5
Even as I share my silly musings today in hopes to make you laugh, I am deeply aware of some serious losses around the country and right here in our circle.
Some precious people are reeling from unexpected and tragic grief.
I laid awake last night and just lifted the hurting that came to mind.
Be kind today.
You don’t now what others are dealing with.
Hugs and prayers abound.
See you tomorrow <3
