Countdown to Christmas 2024….Day 17

www.laurareimer.net

Here is a little update for where we are on the Countdown at the Reimer house.

Russ finished the Christmas cards and may the Lord bless him ten thousand fold for taking this off my to do list.

The ornaments I need to paint are still in the bag down in the craft room.

The back bedroom is still a mess of plastic and paper shopping bags and the grands are landing here Wednesday night for a sleepover so this elf needs to get her giddy-up on.

I am looking at the stash o’gifts and stocking stuffers and fresh out of ideas. Panic is setting in. Breathe, breathe, breathe.

Today begins the taking of finals for the three classes I adpopted at the local Christian school in October. For the next three days, each of the three classes will sit and take an exam I have lost sleep over preparing them to pass.

If you are wondering who is underpaid in this world, it is teachers. The hours necessary to educate young people is insane. I think every one of us should have to serve a week of sub duty instead of jury duty.

I’m not bitter, even though it sounds like it. I am very serious in saying that the future of America is sitting in desks with underpaid teachers trying to motivate them to learn against a culture that says they don’t have to do it.

And with that being said, here is the reflection I wrote in my He Shall be Called devotional our church printed for us this year. It is a response prayer to meditations on Jesus being Everlasting Father.

Everlasting Father

my prayer response for December 17th

Come, LORD Jesus.

Come again into our world.

Come in wonder and holiness.

Come in Light and Truth.

Fill the heavens above and the earth below

with so much glory that we will have to be reminded to fear not.

Come into our broken lives.

Break the pride within us.

Come into the darkest places of our souls and culture

that we might bow once more in the awe and wonder of…..

Emmanuel

God. With. Us.
