Countdown to Christmas 2024…Day 11

Christmas Randoms. It’s Wednesday, so here we go…

Random #1

We went to a band concert for Emmett the other night. They did such a great job.

Rachel was trying to point him out to us and just when we spotted him and waved, he raised his music stand to hide his face.

Sigh.

Middle School boys.

As we were sitting through all the various groups, I started to get tickled as parents were craning their necks to make threatening glances at kids who feigned innocence with every paternal glare.

The discipline and watchful eyes are necessary and I fully support every effort to raise decent human beings, but sometimes you have to laugh from the other side of it all. Because we who have passed through this deserve to chuckle every now and again.

I have discovered that while I am not a huge fan of hot chocolate, there are exceptions.

When you offer me whipped cream, crushed candy canes and chocolate syrup to drizzle over it all, I am all in.

I got the Christmas tubs put away last night.

Bam!

Let’s celebrate! (and yes, that is an old photo)

When our kids were teens, Russ got the idea to have a dinner downtown as a Christmas thing.

They could invite a significant other, if one was involved, and we would all dress up and go to one of the nice restaurants.

It only lasted a few years as they were all only teens together for a few years, but it is a favorite Christmas memory.

Seeing them looking nice and using cloth napkins and silverware like they were civilized was a treasure.

I have to admit, I kind of miss it.

When Russ retired he took over the Christmas cards.

When people ask me if I retired, I usually say you have to have a real job to officially “retire.”

In my heart, tho, I want to say that yes, I did retire from the Christmas card duty and I am loving it <3

Happy Wednesday!

If you put your Christmas decor tubs away, go have a fancy hot chocolate and celebrate <3
