Call back
Happy Friday!
All day I have been thinking of a writing from my beloved Streams in the Desert.
The old one.
The one that was my aunt’s and that got me through a bout of deep grieving many years ago.
The one that was faded and tear stained …. and God had me give away….to someone else who was grieving….
One of my favorites is from December 19th…..Call back…
The author likens life to a steep mountain climb. And how if someone is up ahead, could you call back to encourage those coming behind you.
Whoever wrote it says it way better than me…
“We are climbers together and we must help one another. This mountain climbing is serious business, but glorious.”*
Oh it is. Indeed.
And I have made it a fair way up the mountain.
Made it through 34 years of marriage this June…57 years of living this July…31 years of parenting this August…and…almost 4 years of…
yeah….
Seen the curls on this one…
and the ones on his uncle.
And through it all…..He has been faithful.
The writing from Streams (go ahead….google Streams in the Desert December 19th and read it!) talks about calling back to the ones coming behind us. Telling them we made it. Reminding them that He is faithful.
In all the seasons of life. …
He
IS
FAITHFUL!
*”But if you’ll say He heard you when your prayer was but a cry….”*
Oh yes!
He hears the cries of our hearts. He collects our tears in a bottle. He holds them as precious in His hands.
*”And if you’ll say He saw you through the night’s sin-darkened sky….”*
Oh yes!
He did…He never leaves. He never forsakes. He is always, always there. No matter how low we sink.
And today, I am calling back…
to those who come behind me.
On the journey, I have battled over getting a toddler to eat her vegetables and a teenager to dress modestly.
I have waged war over advocating for aging parents and the pull of the world on our children’s hearts.
I have surrendered my will and my heart a thousand times a day.
I have fought on my knees for our home, for our children, for our church.
And I am calling back to anyone who might be behind me.
Hold fast.
Hang on.
He is faithful.
He knows.
And I am asking, pleading….. for those who are ahead….call back….call back…
“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds….encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
We need each other.
We need the testimonies of His faithfulness.
We need the fellowship of believers.
We are the war-torn, the broken, the healed, the delivered…we are His fragile vessels of clay, shining forth His light…
Let us make this climb together.
Let us be a people that are linked through the love of Christ to ….. Journey Onward <3
