It is indeed grand <3
The Grand Canyon Railway takes you to the original station featured at the end of yesterday’s post. In this location it is recommended you do not use any of the shuttles as they can’t guarantee you will return in time to reboard.
There was plenty to do in this area and we had not explored this part of the canyon on our last trip. Along with the original lodge where people still dine and stay overnight, there were an assortment of shops that were in unique and original buildings as well as a Hopi house.
Here are some photos from our time walking along the canyon and visiting some of the sites in this area:
Our first sighting as we approached instilled the same amount of awe and wonder as the first time.
Breathtaking does not even measure up to describe what it is like to me to see it. Tears poured as they did the first time.
And then God did this.
A rainbow all around the rim.
It was incredible.
This delicious sandwich was offered in one of the food options. It was a blustery day, overcast and sometimes spitting rain. But this fair weather girl feels that dining on such a hearty sandwich a view of the canyon ranks high on my favorite meals ever.
This quaint building is so old and houses a lovely art and gift shop.
As does this one.
I was able to take a photo for a young couple who came up those stairs in late afternoon following the completion of a hike that had started at 8 am that morning.
They were adorable and so happy.
This was spotted on the entry to one of those beautiful shops and I couldn’t agree more.
We enjoyed our time in Sedona and the Grand Canyon as well as Phoenix area. We got to see family and friends, eat some great food and see the most beautiful scenery on this earth.
It was a different spring break than the trips to beach. We agreed it was good to do something different. But it definitely is not the same vibe as the beach.
Hugs and have a great weekend
