For a Friday laugh <3
Hello and happy Friday <3
I have a simple and, hopefully, funny story to end the week, but first I want to acknowledge there is a lot of heartache and hard going on around the world and also in the lives of people we love.
I am not ignoring the pain of so many, and there are gentle and strong prayers being lifted for the hurting even as I share what I hope will make you laugh as you head into the weekend.
On Wednesday, I was still driving Russ around since we wanted to be completely clear of post-surgery meds. We had a prayer gathering at church, I attended knitting for a bit and then found my co-pilot reading in a nook of the church. From there, we ran a couple of errands.
We got home and I got him settled with a snack and an ice pack, switched out the laundry, got some things done in the kitchen and lost my phone. I felt like I had used it since we had been home so I went from room to room, searching every flat surface numerous times. Panic grew to a frenzy.
I got Russ involved and he started calling it. Of course the phone was on silent since we had been at church for prayer. We hoped if I had left it somewhere on our errands, someone would answer or we could hear a vibration.
Nope.
Finally he said he was going to call Apple Care, and headed to his office. He had his phone propped up by his computer and I grabbed my laptop and sat on the piano bench across from him as the tech talked us through how to locate it.
I eventually remembered how to get into iCloud as she waited patiently. There is a handy little locater icon that she directed me to. When I clicked on it, it showed the phone being off line but in our home. She said that was good but I may not be able to send a sound to it that would alert us to where it was.
Feeling hopeful, I clicked on the “Play a sound” prompt and sure enough, my phone began trilling an alarm. Really close. Like on the corner of Russ’s desk close.
Yep, my phone was about 6 inches behind his phone tucked behind some photographs. Right where I had left it and forgot I had gone into his office to unplug my laptop where it had been charging from earlier in the day.
The young girl at Apple Care said, I can hear it…can you see it?
Oh yes. Indeed we can.
She was so sweet and I was so thankful.
Embarrassed beyond measure, but deeply thankful.
Hope you all have a good day, and here is a friendly reminder to turn those phones off of silent when you get home today.
You will never regret it.
Hugs and prayers for your peace, comfort and joy.
