Some thoughts that are stirring in my soul <3

I didn’t get a post up yesterday. It has been one of those weeks where things just haven’t worked the best for me to take a seat and share some thoughts before heading out into the day.

Like you, we have been tuned into the news in Israel and are trying to take it all in. The scenes are mind numbing and while the buildings being bombed are devastating, I think we all can agree that it is the images of people being taken hostage that are the most unsettling.

As I sort through my thoughts and feelings and reaction, one of the things that Russ said to me just keeps playing on a loop.

He said that he heard one report that the Israeli defense had prepared for all manner of air and cyber strikes, but had not been prepared for the enemy to just break through the wall that had been built to defend the city.

By breaching the wall, they were able to simply drive into places where people live and work and walk down the streets and kill some and take others as prisoners.

And that resonated with me on a deep spiritual level.

They had planned defenses for how they assumed the enemy would attack, but instead the enemy blew through the wall that they believed would keep them safe.

I researched this wall and discovered it is a “smart wall” with all kinds of technology designed to make it foolproof. One article I read quoted an analyst of Israeli defense as saying they were defeated by their own “hubris”.

By pride in the technology of the wall they had built, they thought they didn’t need to worry about the enemy gaining a physical foothold on their land.

As I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the safety of the hostages, for the continued killing and destruction of lives, I can not help but heed the warning in my spirit about the spiritual implications that have awakened in me.

Pride that we are impenetrable by the tactics of the enemy of our souls is dangerous and foolish. Thinking we know how he might attack us and leaving ourselves vulnerable in places that we are certain we have covered sufficiently leaves us wide open.

We do not live in fear of the enemy of God. But we are wise to daily seek His cover and protection.

Like King David, in each new battle, we must first ask for His guidance. Also like King David, we can see the error of NOT asking for His guidance. David’s biggest failures and defeats were preceded by a lack of seeking the Lord.

In times of peace and in times of war, we daily need His wisdom, protection, counsel, love, mercy and grace.

May God bless you and keep you safe today <3
